Tarrant County Jail Roster

The Tarrant County, Texas inmate registry is a public resource that allows anyone to check if a person is in custody at the county jail. TarrantCourt.us helps find public information about individuals currently or recently held in custody. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official website of the Tarrant County Sheriff, by calling the jail, or visiting the facility in person. The registry is maintained by the Detention Bureau of the Sheriff's Office and is updated daily. Citizens can use it to confirm detention, learn about charges, and obtain basic booking information.

Search Current Inmates in Tarrant Jail

There are several ways to find information about current inmates in the Tarrant County jail.

Online Search

  1. Go to the daily booking reports page on the Tarrant County Sheriff's website.
  2. The list displays individuals processed over the last period. Use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to find a specific last name.
  3. For a more detailed search of court cases, use the District Clerk's document search portal, where you can find criminal case materials.

Find Tarrant Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created when a detained person is officially registered in the jail. This process includes fingerprinting, photographing, and entering data into the system.

Each record contains:

  • A unique booking number
  • Date and time of registration
  • Charges filed
  • Name of the arresting agency
  • Basic personal information of the detainee (name, date of birth, gender, race)

Daily sheriff reports are published on the Daily Booked In Reports page. These reports cover recent bookings, not a complete archive.

If you need records of criminal cases, including felonies, contact the District Clerk. This office maintains court documents, including arrest warrants and case materials. For state-level criminal history checks, there is the Crime Records Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Requests for official copies of documents may involve a fee per page or for certification.

Search the Tarrant Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The registry supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the person's last name in Latin script. If the system returns too many results, add the first name for clarification. Ensure the spelling is correct — even one extra letter can prevent finding the record. Try spelling variations if the last name has non-standard transliteration.

Search by Booking Number

If you have a booking number, it provides the most accurate result. This number is usually provided at the first contact with the detention system — it may be given to relatives during a phone call from the jail.

If the Search Yields No Results

  • The person may have already been released — the registry only shows those currently in custody.
  • The booking may not be complete yet, and the data hasn't appeared in the system.
  • Check the spelling of the name.
  • Call the jail directly at (817) 884-3000 and ask to confirm the detention status.
  • For arrest warrant searches, use the Sheriff's criminal warrants page or check active justice court warrants.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Tarrant

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office updates daily booking reports typically once a day. This means there may be several hours between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the online registry.

Main limitations to be aware of:

  • The registry only shows individuals who are currently in custody. Once released, the record disappears.
  • This is not an archive. Old booking records are not kept publicly accessible on the sheriff's page.
  • During periods of high arrest volume — such as weekends — there may be longer delays in data entry.
  • Records of juveniles, as well as certain cases under investigative secrecy, are not published.

To obtain historical records, submit a Public Information Request according to the Texas Public Information Act. Such a request is directed to the Sheriff's Office or the District Clerk, depending on the type of document. Court materials for felonies are maintained by the District Clerk and can be searched through the online document search portal.
